Perspective Basics: A Draw-Through Technique, With a Spaceship

Perspective Basics: A Draw-Through Technique, With a Spaceship (http://psd NULL.tutsplus NULL.com/tutorials/drawing/perspective-basics-a-draw-through-technique-with-a-spaceship-basix/)

Another tutorial that takes a fundamental concept to the next level. If you haven’t gathered by now, I love that kind.

Everyone that has studied the very basics of drawing knows about perspective lines. And those first lessons in perspective drawing are great… if you really love drawing cityscapes and cubes. What this lesson teaches you is how to take an irregular and non rectangular object, like say a spaceship, and use the basic concepts you’ve learned to draw it correctly in 3 dimensional space.

LIGHT – A Detailed Tutorial

LIGHT - a detailed tutorial (http://www NULL.itchy-animation NULL.co NULL.uk/light NULL.htm)I watch a lot of the Food Network. (Bare with me, I’m going somewhere with this.) I typically don’t go for many traditional cooking shows. There is one in particular however that is a must have for my DVR. If you know anything about food, you know what it is. Good Eats. What makes that show different from others is that besides just telling you the process, Alton Brown actually takes the time to actually tell you why it’s done that way. You come away with a complete understanding of the subject, rather than have just memorized a list of instructions.

This tutorial on lighting takes the extra mile to tell you why lighting affects its environment the way it does, and why you should not rely on the traditional 3-point lighting model.

New England Webcomics Weekend Meetup

New England Webcomics Weekend (http://webcomicsweekend NULL.com/) is November 6-7 this year, which gives us some time but for those that need to make plans well ahead I thought I’d get people thinking about this now.

I was one of the fortunate few that made it to the inaugural NEWW last year. It was totally spur of the moment and held together with nothing but the hard and frantic work of a team of volunteers and undoubtedly a few strategically placed pieces of duct tape. And most of all, it was completely awesome.

It was like no other convention I’ve ever been at, Read the rest of this entry »
